How to keep your cool during a Real Money Game?

“With confidence, you have won before you have started”.

-Marcus Garvey

Those of you who have ever taken part in any game can testify to the truthfulness of the above statement. And its converse is also just as true. Without confidence, you can easily lose a game you have in the palm of your hand. Controlling your nerves becomes even more difficult if you are playing real money games because when money is at stake, you have something to lose and that just cranks up the nerves. The problem does not limit itself to games only, the same concept is applicable to the decisions you take every day. Therefore, it seems worthwhile to learn a thing or two on how to keep your cool during a high-pressure game or real money game.

Here are a few tips for you:

1) Stay in the moment

We often have the habit of fast-forwarding to the future and preparing for the situations that might occur and getting overwhelmed by the infinite possibilities. While farsight is helped you prepare for an unprecedented situation, too much of it can leave you with shaky knees and trembling fingers. Therefore, the best way to counter is to keep your focus on the present and doing everything right instead of worrying about what could get awry in the future.

2) Focus on yourself, not on your opponent

While it is good to know what your opponent is capable of, as it helps you devise a counter plan, thinking too much about it can leave you doubting your own skills – which is poison in a game. So the best course of action is to focus on your own game and doing your best rather than wondering what your opponent can do to you.

3) Acknowledge that you are nervous

You are not human if you don’t feel the nerves before a game. And feeling nervous isn’t such a bad thing. It keeps you on your toes and prevents you from making any mistakes. But if you let it overpower you, it can be the cause for your demise. The worst thing to do in such situations is to deny that you are feeling nervous. That never helps. What you should do instead is that you should acknowledge that you are nervous and promise yourself that you would still win.

4) Don’t worry about the things you cannot control

The worst thing to do is to worry about the things you cannot control. One such thing, especially while playing Ludo is the roll of the dice. If your opponent is getting lucky with the dice, relax and wait for your luck to turn instead of cursing the dice for playing against you. Ludo money is one of those real money board games where you cannot win if you lose your cool. The picture would become much clearer.

5) Have fun!

Your mom would have probably told you this already, but the most important part of any game is to enjoy it. We do realize that when the stakes are high, the priorities might change, but remember that, you started playing this game because you enjoy playing it.

That’s it. Now that you know the secret, get the dice rolling.
